The World Ecademy offers the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) through online learning in partnership with an Ontario Ministry of Education-inspected private school. The programme is designed for students seeking a recognised Canadian secondary education from any location. It covers OSSD entry requirements, transfer credits, graduation requirements and diploma pathways. Students benefit from flexible online learning while meeting the academic standards established by the Province of Ontario.

1. For Entry into Grade 9 (Starting OSSD Program)

 

  • Completion of Grade 8 or equivalent in the home country.

  • Academic transcripts or report cards for Grade 8, demonstrating successful completion of the grade level.

  • Proof of English language proficiency (may not be required for native speakers or students from English-medium schools).

 

2. For Entry into Grade 10–12 (Transfer Students)

 

  • Completion of the previous grade level (e.g., for Grade 10, Grade 9 completion is required).

  • Academic transcripts from the current or previous school to evaluate credit transferability.

  • Credit equivalency assessment (to determine how many credits from the student’s previous school align with OSSD requirements).

  • English language proficiency test scores (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL) if the student’s prior education was not in English.

 

3. Graduation Requirements for OSSD

 

Students need to complete the following to graduate:

  • 30 Credits:

    • 18 compulsory credits (e.g., English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Physical Education).

    • 12 optional credits (based on student interests and career goals).

  • Literacy Requirement: Successful completion of the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) or an equivalent literacy course.

  • Community Involvement: Completion of 40 hours of community service.
